Die Versuchsanordnung ist schnell erklärt. In elementarer Besetzung spielt das Berliner Trio BROM seit 2010 eigene und freie Musik. Als stoffliche Grundlage dafür dienen die offenen Kompositionen des Saxophonisten Alexander Beierbach – für ihn und seine Ko-Laboranten Jan Roder am Bass und Christian Marien am Schlagzeug Start- und Zielpunkte für brodelnde improvisatorische Reaktionsprozesse, großzügige Bögen und Klangexplosionen.
In der Musik des Trios BROM sind die komponierten und die improvisierten Anteile dicht verwoben. Das komponierte Ausgangsmaterial wird im Verlauf längerer Bögen immer wieder aufs Neue auseinander genommen und wieder zusammengesetzt oder auch in verschiedensten Kombinationen übereinander geschichtet. Die Musik entwickelt sich bei jedem Konzert aus einem neuen Zusammenhang und in eine andere Richtung. So entstehen jedes Mal unterschiedlichste Ausgangspunkte sowohl für die Improvisationen der drei Musiker als auch für die Interpretation des komponierten Materials.
Im März 2013 erschien das CD-Debut des Trios auf gligg-records.
Die im Juli 2018 auf Tiger Moon Records veröffentlichte CD „Cardboard Sea“ dokumentiert die spannende Weiterentwicklung des Spielkonzepts und des Bandsounds dieses Ensembles.

The quartet Dalgoo has been founded by Tobias Klein and Meinrad Kneer in 1998 in Amsterdam (NL) and worked continuously till the year of 2005. Now, 20 years after its beginnings, Klein, Ohlmeier and Kneer make a fresh start together with Berlin based drummer Christian Marien. New material has been composed and arranged for the quartet and in november 2018 the quartet will reappear on stage again!

The Hannes Zerbe Jazz Orchestra Berlin is an unconventional bigband which exists since 2011. Musicians well-known in Berlin’s and the international jazz scene play under the direction of Hannes Zerbe who is regarded a founding father among jazz musicians in the German Democratic Republic. For the orchestra, he composes and arranges the music in which you can feel influences from modern jazz over symphonic music to Frank Zappa. The band’s interaction creating a united sound experience is one of the main ambitions. However, the individual and creative opportunities of each musician are as important. Therefore, elaborate improvisations present them with all his or her diversity and artistic potential.
Ein energiegeladenes Trio, welches unzweifelhaft seine Wurzeln im Jazz hat, aber mit einer gewissen diebischen Freude in allen Tümpeln der improvisierten Musik angelt. Raffiniert komplexe Kompositionen stehen im Kontrast zu Jazzrockigem, dem eine ordentliche Injektion Free-Punk eingeimpft wurde. Freie Passagen und unverkrampft Schönes gesellen sich zueinander. Da wird ein alter deutscher Schlager schon mal durch den Country-Kakao gezogen und der Blues ist allgegenwärtig. Über allem aber steht die Überschrift:

Oscillating between composition and collective improvisation Tru Cargo Service creates a raw sound dealing with density and space. Since 2017 the Berlin-based ensemble succesfully demonstrates its understanding of playing exhilarating quartet music. In the interplay of the quartet, four individual voices combine to form a dynamic band sound. Playing Torsten Papenheim’s compositions Tru Cargo Service maintains an ensemble language with the courage to leave gaps. After the highly acclaimed debut album „Dear Passengers“, the second CD of Tru Cargo Service was released in September 2022: „Schattenlos“.
